Do you still have doubts?
Is it difficult to fit Secuderm waterproof protection?
Installation is carried out in 4 stages:
- Apply gel around the area to be protected
Wait 1 min to allow the gel to set. - Take advantage of this time to prepare the protective film by making small cuts.
- Laying the film
- The watertight barrier is created. You can go underwater.

How long can I leave Secuderm protection in place?
It all depends on your treatment protocol.
Secuderm® can remain in place for up to 7 days while retaining its properties (waterproofing, breathability, hold, bacterial barrier).
However, if you need to change your dressing regularly to treat a scar or any other type of wound, you will of course need to remove the Secuderm waterproof protection and replace it once the treatment has been completed.
Removing the waterproof cover
Is it difficult to remove the film?
No, removing the waterproof protection is very easy and painless.
There is no residue if the film has been applied for at least 45 minutes.
Is there any residue when the waterproof protection is removed? How can it be removed?
You can use any special plaster release solution or spray.
You can also use gauze soaked in 90° alcohol. Apply the gauze gently to the gel area and rub gently to remove any residue. Be careful not to apply the gauze to mucous membranes.
About the product
Is Secuderm waterproof protection completely waterproof under all conditions of use (creases, twisting, perspiration, mud)?
Yes, Secuderm® has been designed to adapt perfectly to the skin’s profile, and today it is the most effective barrier in waterproof protection, because the gel perfectly matches the area to be covered, “plugging” irregularities due to the epidermal profile.
The product has been tested and approved by French military doctors for use in combat in the case of wounds in areas that are difficult to protect due to their shape (popliteal fossa, ankles).
Secuderm waterproof protection has also been approved by commando doctors in French Guiana (a humid tropical climate that induces profuse sweating).
It has also been tested and approved by navy divers at -60m.
Does the area protected by the film breathe?
Yes, Secuderm waterproof protection breathes extremely well.
This was demonstrated in 2016 as part of a scientific study conducted by Professor Lurton of Rennes University Hospital (France), designed to compare the breathability of different skin protectors.
Studies have demonstrated wearability for up to seven consecutive days and excellent breathability of the covered area, limiting the risk of infection due to maceration.
Secuderm’s breathability is equivalent to the best bandages on the market, and the protection is more than 2 times more breathable than the average competing products on the market.
The polyurethane protective film was selected for its breathability.
What’s more, the protective film is never glued to the area to be protected (it just sticks to the gel mesh), which means there’s no adhesive barrier and maximum breathability.
With Secuderm, you avoid the risk of infection due to maceration, thanks to this film technology, which is not completely glued to the skin.
What are the limits of Secuderm protection in terms of shape and size?
There’s no such thing!
Secuderm protection is cut to size. Simply adapt the shape and size to the area to be protected. As the gel tube is separate, it can be applied around any contour. It’s this great flexibility and adaptability that makes Secuderm a unique, innovative and ultra-effective technology.
Can I buy the gel tubes separately?
No.
Regulations are very strict in the medical sector, and we cannot sell the gel separately from the protective film.
In any case, the performance of waterproof protection is directly linked to the combination of gel and protective film, for which no substitution can be made.
Will I have enough gel to cover a large area?
Yes, because the gel only acts as a binder between the skin and the protective film, and all you have to do is apply a thin trickle of gel around the area to be protected to create the barrier and bond with the film.
The gel does not need to be applied in a thick layer. A thin layer is sufficient to hold the film in place and seal the area. If you follow these instructions, you’ll have enough gel.
The outer edge of the protective film is not clean!
That’s right. That’s because the product is entirely custom-cut.
After a few days, black spots appear outside the protected area!
You’re quite right. It’s visual proof that the barrier is completely watertight and that the clean zone is fully protected.
A general darkening would be proof to the contrary.
Can excess film on the edges increase the risk of protection removal?
No, thanks to the film’s great flexibility and stretchability.
Tolerance / Skin
Is the protection well tolerated by all skin types?
Yes.
Secuderm® is a medical device, and each component of the waterproof protection has undergone skin tolerance tests.
The gel is based on silicone, a material well-known for its skin tolerance.
The protective film and gel have been designed in collaboration with university pharmacists, who have selected the best components.
What’s more, Secuderm has been used on all skin types for many years now, without any side effects.
What to do in case of allergy
The risk of allergy is extremely low. According to our quality department, the percentage of complaints related to skin reactions is less than 0.1%.
If an allergy is suspected (itching, irritation, etc.), remove protection immediately and rinse thoroughly with physiological fluid, sterile if necessary. Contact a doctor immediately.
